DC Bandipora conducts extensive tour of Ketson & adjoining areas

Holds public outreach programme; lays foundation stone of important schemes

Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Ketson and adjoining areas under Block Diwas initiative of LG’s Administration.The DC was accompanied by DDC Member Aloosa Constituency, Mewa Jan, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmed, BDC Aloosa, District Officers of various departments and other concerned.

The programme witnessed overwhelming participation of the public and PRIs who highlighted their issues regarding water supply, power, road connectivity, education and health.Social Activist and tourism promoter, Shabnum Bashir also raised various issues related to tourism and education of tribal people.

Representatives of tribal affairs also raised various issues regarding roads, availability of forest produce to locals, Chuntiwari road, Sheikhmuqam road, availability of solar lights and other issues.PRIs also raised various issues regarding public welfare including Aloosa-Lolab road.

After listening to the issues of the locals, the DC redressed many grievances on the spot and issued directions to the concerned officers for early redressal of the remaining ones. He assured the public that all their genuine grievances shall be redressed in a time bound manner.

Dr. Owais laid emphasis on the role of PRIs, Administration and common people to get desired results on the development front.BDO Aloosa apprised that for 2022-24, 98 works under PRI grants, 16 under BDC grants and 08 works under DDC grants have been approved.

He also informed that under PMAY-G 227 cases have received ist installment and added that under PMAY-G 27 new cases have been sanctioned in Benlipora-A and 37 cases in Benlipora-B.Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed the role of local youth for uplifting of the area.

He said under NABARD DPR of 4.5 crore has been approved to develop the road infrastructure in the district besides DPR of 4.8 crore has been submitted to develop link roads.He said under JJM Rs. 35 crore are meant for Aloosa block to develop the pipe network and augment the water supply schemes.

Dr. Owais on the occasion urged local youth to come forward for the development of the area and tourism promotion. He urged them to register for homestays and provide tented accommodation to the tourists visiting the area.

He said the administration is going to organise a festival in recently declared tourist destination “Ketson” for tourism promotion and to raise awareness among locals regarding various tourism related activities.

Later, the DC also took field visits to the tourist spots of the Ketson to take on spot inspection of various facilities available and various modalities of the tourism sector.During the field visit, the DC also laid the foundation of the Water Supply scheme Benlipora-B constructed at an estimated cost of Rs.149.69 lacs.
