Kathua : District Development Commissioner, Om Prakash today convened the Block Diwas proceedings here at PWD Rest house Basohli.ADC Basohli Tilak Raj Thapa; PRI members including BDC Basohli, BDC Bhoond, Sarpanchs, panchs and a large number of people from Basohli, Mahanpur, Bhoond and Dhar Mahanpur blocks besides prominent citizens of Basohli were present. They highlighted their issues and demands seeking construction if Boundary Wall of MS Mandla school, repair of PS Pathiara school, repair of borewell at ward no 10, provision for 500 mtrs connecting road at Jankhar, release of pending MGREGA payments, repair of Health Sub Centre Jankhar and Plakh, adequate staff at sub-centre Plakh, and filling of vacant Class IV Posts at High school Hatt etc.The DDC gave patient hearing to the issues and demands of the public and assured redress of the same. He said the motive of convening Mega Block Diwas was to reach out to the people and understand their problems. He said devolution of powers to elected PRI members will surely pave the way for the development as per the aspirations of the locals.He directed concerned officers for redressal of genuine demands and grievances of public importance.Similar Block Divas cum redressal camps were held at designated places of the district.Later District Development Commissioner attended a programme on Swachh Bharat Mission at BDO Block Basohli.During the programme, the DDC gave away appreciation certificates to Lecturer Dr Parvez Ahmed Rather and 14 students of GDC Basohli, who have recently initiated a special cleanliness drive at tourist spot Purthu located on the banks of Ranjit Sagar Dam Lake.The DDC lauded the efforts of the volunteers of GDC Basohli for taking the initiative. He also felicitated local artist Mohinder Paul and his family for their contribution in preserving local art of Basohli.BDC Basohli, Sushma Jamwal, BDO Basohli Ranjit Kaur and field functionaries of Rural Development department were also present.
