AISSF Appeals to Censor Board- Remove Animal Film Scenes Disturbing Sikh Religious Sentiments

Amritsar : The All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) represented by Karnail Singh Peer Mohammad, Patron, and President Advocate Parminder Singh Dhingra, has written a letter to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) expressing their objection to certain scenes in the film “Animal” that have deeply hurt Sikh sentiments. The AISSF firmly requests the CBFC to promptly take action in removing these offensive scenes.
The objectionable scenes include Ranbir Kapoor blowing smoke on the face of a Gursikh man while smoking a cigarette, the distortion of a Shabad from Saint Kabir Sahib, the character “Arjan Velly” depicting an atmosphere of hooliganism, and a final scene where Ranbir Kapoor places a butcher knife on the beard of a Gursikh man.
These scenes exhibit profound disrespect towards the Sikh community’s cultural and religious values. Peer Mohammad further has appealed to the President of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to initiate appropriate action against the filmmakers to prevent the production of such films in the future.
Additionally, he emphasizes the necessity for the CBFC to include Sikh representatives on its board to ensure early identification and prevention of films that disrespect Sikh principles. The AISSF urges the CBFC to address this concern with utmost urgency and promote a film industry that respects and embraces cultural and religious diversity.
