Ishtiaq Ahmed’s book “ Pre-partition Punjab’s contribution to Indian Cinema” released by cinema personality Subhash Ghai

Global Punjabi Association will provide international platform to Punjabi writers and artists: Iqbal Singh Lalpura

Goregaon, Mumbai : The book “ Pre-partition Punjab’s contribution to Indian Cinema” written by world renowned, Lahore born and Sweden based author, Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed was launched by another illustrious film personality Shri Subhash Ghai at his Whistling woods institute, Goregaon, Mumbai.
The function was organised by Global Punjabi Association’s western India chairman Shri Rajan Khanna. The event was very well attended by some of the leading punjabi personalities from Mumbai region and some people from Bollywood also.
According to Prof. Sarchand Singh, Shri Subhash Ghai spoke about his experience in film industry and his Punjabi background. He belongs to a family which migrated from Jhelum district of west Punjab ( Now Pakistan).
Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed spoke about his experiences after writing the book “Punjab, bloodied, partitioned and cleansed”. He told many families were reunited after reading details in the said book.
He said the book “Pre partition Punjab’s contribution to Indian Cinema” is a tribute to Punjabi spirit which makes them successful in any field they go into.
The event organizer Shri Rajan Khanna spoke about greatness of the vibrant Punjabi culture and eulogised the role of Punjabis who have traditionally dominated Indian Cinema. He emphasised that the great Punjabi culture can always break narrow sectarian barriers and establish a bonding of brotherhood among the people belonging to both sides of Indo-Pak border.
On this occasion, Patron of Global Punjabi Association, Iqbal Singh Lalpura, Chairman, National Minorities Commission and Dr. Kulwant Singh Dhariwal, Association President and Chairman, World Cancer Care, in a message congratulated everyone and said that this organization is dedicated to Punjab, Punjabi and Punjabiyat and Punjabi litterateurs, artists. Its objective is to honor writers and provide them an international platform to establish their identity. He said that the organization will play a role in publishing the creations of litterateurs and in making the central government’s schemes for writers and artists accessible to them. It was seen that all the Punjabi and cinema lovers present in the program were enjoying themselves a lot.
