Forests & Labour Minister Kickstarts Procurement In Tanda

Tanda (Hoshiarpur) : Punjab Forests and Labour Minister Sangat Singh Gilzian on Sunday while kickstarting the paddy procurement at local Dana Mandi reiterated that Punjab Government had made elaborate arrangements for hassle-free procurement with lifting every single grain of farmers’ produce.Interacting with the farmers present in the mandi, the Minister also asked them about the arrangements and any other facility required. He got procured the first heap of farmer Nishan Singh of village Daburji, whose crop was procured on the spot by the respective agency. The Minister also directed the officers, agencies and arthiyas to ensure timely procurement, lifting and payments within the set time frame to facilitate the farmers.

There was 72 purchase centres in the district with 65 permanent mandis and seven sub-yards setup to ensure smooth procurement.Earlier the Minister also held a brief meeting with the officers/officials in the Mandi to get information of arrangements. The officers informed that sufficient number of gunny bags was available in the district. Gilzian also made appeal to the farmers to comply with the instructions of District Administration for harvesting of crop and time frame set for this purpose so that no inconvenience to be faced by them in Mandis.Prominent amongst those present on the occasion, included SDM Randeep Singh Heer, Chairman Market Committee Simran Saini, Vice Chairman Rakesh Vohra, DFSC Renu Bala Verma and others.
