Urges Union Govt to reopen Kartarpur Corridor for "khulle darshan didaar"

Chandigarh/New Delhi : Slamming the Aam Adami Party (AAP) for wrongly blaming the Punjab farmers for Delhi pollution, Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister, Gurkirat Singh, on Monday said that Arvind Kejriwal led Delhi Government has indulged in the blame game to save it’s own skin as it has completely failed to control pollution in the national capital.Mr. Gurkirat Singh, who was the Chief Guest at Punjab Day Function held during the ongoing India International Trade Fair 2021 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, also urged the Central Government for reopening of Kartarpur Corridor, which has been closed since March 2020 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Talking on industrial growth in Punjab, the Cabinet Minister said that the state government had taken several path breaking steps for creating ease of doing business and ensuring stable growth of the industrial sector in Punjab.He said that the Congress led Punjab Government has brought investment of over Rs 1 lakh crores in the state, which not only given the much needed boost to the economy but also generated employment. The minister said that the Punjab Government has recently organised a two-days Progressive Punjab Investors’ Summit on October 26 & 27, during which renowned Industrialists reiterated to further invest in the Punjab to expand their businesses.He said the Punjab Government has set up Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion as the single point of contact for facilitation of investors.

The new industrial policy with detailed schemes and operational guidelines was implemented with a sole motive of becoming the no. 1 destination for investors and business in the country. The new policy covers extensive reforms focusing on 8 key strategic pillars of change including infrastructure, power, skill, MSMEs, startup & entrepreneurship, ease of doing business, fiscal & non-fiscal incentives and policy. Mr. Gurkirat Singh further revealed that the Invest Punjab has launched a Business First Portal (pbindustries.gov.in) having a Single Window Portal system for granting regulatory approvals including construction permits, fiscal incentives, online property data online including payment of property tax and online land allotment through e-Auction. Central inspection system has been implemented for the Department of labour, Commercial courts have been set up in Ludhiana for quick resolution of disputes. “With the presence of core infrastructures and great emphasis laid by the State of Punjab making it a most suitable place for investors, Punjab state has a very high literacy and the land is very fertile. Punjab State has one of the best connectivity in India. The key features of special single window facility for existing industries/MSME’s to be setup at the District level, quality power at an affordable fixed tariff of Rs. 5 per Unit (Fixed for next five years) are attractive for the new investors” added the Minister.

The Chief Guest took a round of Punjab Pavillion which has been designed and decorated in consonance with the theme of IITF 2021 i.e. “Atmanirbhar Bharat- Self Reliant India”. The façade concept, grand entrance, attraction of theme area of display depicted the measures taken by Punjab government for Ease of Doing Business.The theme area of Punjab Pavillion has been designed showcasing the growth of industry with the world class facilities provided by the Punjab Government. Verka products at the display stall of the Milkfed and Punjabi Phulkari at the stall of PSIEC were the top most attraction. MARKFED depicted their more than100 products which attracted the visitors. The Department of Science & Technology through Punjab Biotechnology Incubator, Punjab Energy Development Authority, Punjab Tourism, Punjab Agro Industries Corporation and Punjab Agriculture University and GADVASU etc. were added centre of attraction for visitors. A cultural evening on the occasion was organized at Amphi theatre. Proceedings were started by lightening of lamp by the Chief Guest. Mr. Tejvir Singh, Prinicipal Secretery, Industries and Commerce, Punjab, Mr. Kumar Amit, Managing Director, PSIEC and Mr. J. S. Randhawa , Administrator Punjab Pavillion and Gurpreet Singh, Co-ordinator Punjab Pavilion along with other eminent guests were present on the occasion.Renowned Punjabi Singer Lakhwinder Wadali and Kulwinder Billa entertained the audience with their voice by singing popular songs. The audience swayed with the pulsating rhythm of the Punjabi folklore.
