Chandigarh : Haryana Home and Health Minister Sh. Anil Vij today directed the administrative officers to upgrade and strengthen the embankment of Tangri river as well as construct boundary wall to protect the industrial area of Ambala from floods before the upcoming monsoon. Sh. Vij was presiding over a meeting of officers of Haryana State Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, Urban Local Bodies and Industries and Commerce Department in Chandigarh today. Office bearers of the Association of Ambala Industrial Area were also present in the meeting.
The Home Minister said that due to the last monsoon rain and additional rainfall in the hills, the water of Tangri river had caused a lot of damage in the industrial area of Ambala. In view of this disaster, he has instructed the officers to prepare a comprehensive plan to protect the industrial area of Ambala from floods so that no such disaster can happen in future.
Sh. Vij also directed the officers to make proper arrangements for roads, drainage system as well as electricity etc. in the industrial area of Ambala. Regarding plot zoning, the Home Minister said that a cabinet sub-committee will be constituted for plot zoning and investigation will be done. Similarly, regarding compensation for the damage caused in the industrial area during the last monsoon, Sh. Vij also assured the office bearers of the association to provide compensation under the Insurance Scheme and Chief Minister’s Kshatipurti Scheme.
In the meeting, the officers informed to Sh. Vij that the final report of the boundary wall of the industrial area of Ambala from IIT, Roorkee will recieved by 15th November. After this the tender process will be started. The officers informed the Home Minister that to protect the industrial area from floods, work will also be done to strengthen and upgrade the embankment of Tangri river so that there is no damage of any kind in the future.
In the meeting, the officers apprised the Home Minister that the state government has a plan to upgrade all the old industrial areas, under which the work of upgrading the industrial areas of Ambala will be carried out on priority. Apart from this, work has been allotted to repair the roads in the industrial area, Ambala.
Apart from this, a decision has also been taken regarding the cleanliness system in the industrial area in the meeting, under which a committee of association members will be formed, which will allow payment to the concerned after inspecting the cleanliness etc. It is noteworthy that the industrial area of Ambala is very old and about 130 units are operating in the Industrial Area.
Additional Chief Secretary of Industries and Commerce Department, Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan and Director General, Sh. Shekhar Vidyarthi, Managing Director of HSIIDC, Sh. Yash Garg, Director of Urban Local Bodies Department, Sh. Yash Pal and other senior officers and office bearers of Ambala Industrial Area Association were present in the meeting.
