Webinar organised on eve of World Tourism Day

Shimla : A Spokesperson of the Tourism and Civil Aviation Department informed here today that a webinar was organized under the chairmanship of Director Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Yunus on the eve of World Tourism Day which was participated by various District Tourism Officers, Hotel Associations, Adventure Associations, etc. to discuss various tourism activities.Yunus said that the virtual conference organized on the eve of World Tourism Day, has proved successful in getting acquainted with the challenges being faced by the tourism industry in the state. He said that the theme of World Tourism Day-2020 is ‘Tourism and Rural Development’ to celebrate the unique role that tourism sector plays in providing opportunities outside big cities and preserving cultural and natural heritage.Director Tourism said that the State Government is committed to promote the development of tourism in the state. Tourism industry has major contribution in economic development of the country and the state. Himachal Pradesh is also known as a Tourism State which provides maximum employment opportunities to the people. Tourism industry contributes 7.3 percent in State Gross Domestic product. Yunus expressed hope that the Tourism industry would get pace in the coming time.
