Jai Ram Thakur addresses virtual rallies of BJP Mahila Morcha of Organisational districts Palampur and Kangra

While addressing the Virtual Rallies of BJP Mahila Morcha of Organisational districts Palampur and Kangra from Shimla today, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said the Mahila Morcha has done a commendable work in preparing and distributing face masks and face covers to the people of the State during the Covid-19 crisis.Chief Minister said that the Mahila Morcha has also played a key role in providing ration and cooked food to the needy at the time of curfew in the State. He said that the then BJP Government in Himachal Pradesh was the first State in the country to provide fifty percent reservation to the women in the Panchayati Raj Institutions and Urban Local Bodies. He said that this has not only ensured active participation of women in development and policy making, but also made them socially and economically self reliant.Jai Ram Thakur said that one cannot even imagine of development and progress of the society without welfare of the womenfolk as they constitute about fifty percent of the total population of the world. He said that the State Government has launched several schemes for ensuring empowerment of women and making them partner in development. Chief Minister said that free gas connections have been provided to 2.76 lakh families under State Scheme Grihini Suvidha Yojna and 1.36 lakh connections under Ujjawala Yojna. He said that Rs 500 each have been deposited in the accounts of 5.90 lakh eligible women under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna during the month of April, May and June.Chief Minister said that ASHA workers were playing a vital role in containing the coronavirus in the State. He said that ASHA workers have done a commendable work in the Active Case Finding Campaign by identifying people with ILI symptoms. He said that the State Government has provided an additional incentive of Rs 1000 per month to every ASHA worker for the month of March to June. Now the State Government has decided that an incentive of Rs 2000 per month would be provided per month for each ASHA workers for the month of July and August, he added. Jai Ram Thakur said that the girls were excelling in almost every field. He said that in the very first cabinet of the State Government, Gudiya Helpline was launched to ensure safety of the women.
Chief Minister said that the able leadership in form of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken timely steps to check spread of the virus. He said that the decision of lockdown by the Prime Minister has helped in containing spread of the coronavirus. He said that due to the timely decision taken by the Prime Minister, death rate in India due to corona was quite less as compared to most of the developed nations of the country.Jai Ram Thakur said that at one stage there was only one Covid-19 case in the State, but the number rose to 902. He said that this share increase was due to about two lakh people of the State stranded in different parts of the country who were brought back by the State Government. He said that people of the State need not worry as the people coming back to the State were being kept under quarantine before allowing them to go home. Chief Minister said that India has made unprecedented progress and witnessed historic decisions during the last about six years. He said that abrogation of Article 370, and abolishing triple Talaq were historic decision which paved the way for one nation, one constitution. He said that the role of women in bring the present State Government in power in the State was immense. Former Chief Minister Shanta Kumar said that when the whole world was fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, the women were playing a vital role not only in preparing and distributing masks, but also ensuing that the people do not jump home quarantine. He also urged the women to work with greater commitment and dedication so that the BJP could again come to power in the State under the leadership of Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. Urban Development Minister Sarveen Chaudhary said that today the women have proved their mantle in almost every field. She thanked the Chief Minister for launching several schemes for empowerment of the women. President BJP Mahila Morcha Kangra Ranju Rastogi detailed various activities started by the District Mahila Morcha during the Covid-19 pandemic. State Mahila Morcha President Rashmi Dhar Sood welcomed the Chief Minister in the virtual rally.State BJP General Secretary Trilok Kapoor thanked the Chief Minister for sparing his valuable time for participating in the virtual rallies to boost the morale of the ranks and files of the party. MP Indu Goswami, MLAs Mulk Raj Premi, Ravi Dhiman, Rita Dhiman, Arun Mehra and Vishal Nehariya, former MLA Sanjay Chaudhary, also participated in the virtual rallies.
