Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla reviews NHAI projects

Shimla : Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla took detailed information about the projects of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), especially the Kiratpur Nerchowk, Pandoh Takoli and Takoli Kullu projects at Raj Bhavan, here today. On the occasion, Abdul Basit, Regional Officer, NHAI Shimla apprised the Governor that five tunnels have been opened for trial from Hanogi to Takoli.
He informed that the work of five tunnels and 22 major bridges between Kiratpur to Nerchowk was almost complete and the work of safety audit was in progress. The Regional Officer updated that opening of five tunnels from Kiratpur to Nerchowk would reduce the journey by 3 hours and besides tourists, local citizens going to Kullu, Manali, Keylong and Rohtang will also benefit immensely.
The Governor also took a detailed account of all the highways being constructed by NHAI in the State and directed the Regional Officer to pay attention to maintaining the environment of the State while constructing the highways. He said that he would soon conduct a site inspection of the Kiratpur to Nerchowk and Pandoh Takoli sections to take stock of the preparations being made.
Shri Basit said that the State Government is giving full cooperation in completing the projects and the Chief Minister himself is getting the problems resolved by holding review meetings from time to time.
