Improve services or face stringent action: Health Minister to ambulance service providers

Shimla : Health Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil while chairing a meeting on the operation and maintenance of 102 and 108 ambulance services directed the ambulance service providers to make improvements in its services to facilitate the people in a better way.
“It has been brought to my notice by the people that these ambulance services were not being regularly maintained as required and sans basic facilities viz: oxygen cylinders, and adequate first aid kit”, said the Minister, adding that it has also been noticed that these ambulances and the related services were either missing or were not been properly maintained.
He said that as the company was involved in ferrying serious patients, it should improve its services besides should be equipped with better medical equipment and first aid kits.He further said that if the services were not improved by the company and the complaints continued to pour in, the department would be compelled to discontinue their services.
Secretary Health M. Sudha Devi, Mission Director of National Health Mission (NHM) Priyanka Verma, Director Health Services Dr. Gopal Beri, Deputy Director (Legal), Directorate Health Services, Ankita Verma and stakeholders of the company were present at the meeting.
