SSB, Manipur, Bihar & Delhi Teams exhibited best sports skills during 31st Senior National ‘Sepak Takraw’ Championship held at LPU

Tournament was organised under the auspices of Sepak Takraw Federation of India (SFI) at Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Stadium of Lovely Professional University

Jalandhar : Six-day 31st Senior National ‘Sepak Takraw’ Championship 2021, commonly known as “Kick-Volleyball”, culminated at the international competitions level Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Stadium of Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Punjab. The tournament was organised at LPU under the auspices of Sepak Takraw Federation of India. The championship was held under the patronage of the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (Govt. of India), Sports Authority of India and in the association of Sepak Takraw Federation of Punjab. Near 600 sports women and men from across all Indian states, UTs and forces participated.During the different matches played on six days, all women teams of SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal); Manipur; and, Bihar state were crowned respectively for their glorious wins in Team Event; Regu Event; and, Double Event of the tournament. The men’s team of SSB lifted the championship trophy by defeating Delhi team in the ‘Team event’ of the game.

The Delhi team remained at the runner up position. In the Regu event also the SSB men’s team defeated Delhi Team by 2/0. Manipur men’s team claimed the third place after beating Nagaland. In the Double event for men, Bihar team was no less than its women team and defeated Haryana men by 2/1.In a message, congratulating the winning teams and encouraging all other participants, LPU Chancellor Mr Ashok Mittal shared: “We believe that talented young men and women of the country should never compromise on their careers because of financial hardships. It is a matter of immense pleasure that LPU accords scholarship on the basis of performances in sports, cultural, research, development, co-curricular, social service, acts of bravery for making them realize their dreams. The result is before all in the world through Olympics 2020, where our students brought immense glory to the country. Our such initiatives are more of a reward rather than support.International Referee Brij Mohan Sahu from Odisha, Technical Official of Federation of India Ashok Sharma, Karnataka Team Manager Sanjay, Bihar team players Bobby and Ritik all applauded LPU for the arrangements made at the campus for successful culmination of the tournament.
