LPU students led 655-member Indian contingent during 19th Asian Games’ Opening Ceremony in China

Jalandhar : Leading India’s largest ever contingent of 655-Member, two of the Lovely Professional University (LPU) students- Lovlina Borgohain and Harmanpreet Singh were hailed high as they walked for the opening ceremony of 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou Olympics Sports Centre Stadium in China.
The robust contingent made a striking entry donning traditional attire – Kurta for men and Sarees for women athletes.Many other LPU students, who are star athletes, are also representing India. These include Bajrang Punia (Wrestling); Arjun Singh Cheema (Shooting); Yashneet Kaur (Basketball); and many athletes in the Women’s Handball Team as well as Men’s Hockey Team.
Lovlina is top boxer in her weight category & an Olympic medallist; similarly, Harmanpreet Singh is Captain of India’s hockey team and an Olympic medallist.Consisting of many LPU students; Indian contingent is competing in the People’s Republic of China for the continental multisport event to conclude on 8th October 2023. LPU athletes are to feature in at least six disciplines –boxing, wrestling, shooting, gymnastics, basketball, and hockey.

We wish them ultimate success to amass a large number of top medals for the nation through their unmatched skills.”
The 2023 Asian Games have kicked off with an electrifying opening ceremony. The central theme of the grand opening ceremony was based on ‘Tides Surging in Asia.’ It highlighted the convergence of Asia and the world in a new era, emphasizing the unity, love, and friendship among the people. Many thousands of athletes from 45 countries are competing here for top honours in 16 days’ competition.
