Guru Nanak Dev University signs MoU with SGRDUHS to promote Medical Research

Amritsar : Recent CORONA pandemic has made life difficult for people around the world. Therefore cutting edge research in the area of Modern biology is the need of the hour and Public Health education is extremely important for a better and healthy life said Professor Jaspal Singh Sandhu Vice Chancellor of Guru Nanak Dev University while signing a MoU between Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences (SGRDUHS) at Amritsar. Prof Sandhu mentioned that Inter institutional collaboration is the need of the hour and research cannot be done in isolation. Further he emphasized that the state problems should be given the top most research and development priority so that the people of Punjab are benefited.Dr. A P Singh, Dean, Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences said the students and faculty members will be hugely benefited through this collaboration which was long overdue and the MoU will benefit all the stake holders. The MoU will focus on joint research programme in area of medical sciences. Joint Seminars, Workshops, Conferences, Scholars exchange etc. will be undertaken in the above areas.Prof AJS Bhanwer, former dean of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, expressed, “I have great expectations from university to play the role of an elder brother and support various educational initiatives of SGRDUHS”. Dr. AP Singh invited the faculty members of GNDU to play advisory roles in developing the curriculum as well as implementing other major plans of SGRDUHS as well as to join the University Board in advisory roles so that the aspirations of the students of the region for quality education are fulfilled.Dr. K S Kahlon, Registrar, GNDU, also gave an overview of the university and various programs offered by the University. Dr. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Coordinator University Industry linkage Programme at GNDU had facilitated this MoU event and concluded the event with a hope that GNDU Amritsar and Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences can forge close times in multidisciplinary areas.
