CGC Landran granted patent for Surveillance Drone design

Landran : ‘Drone for Surveillance’ a unique innovation developed by two students of Chandigarh Group of Colleges (CGC) Landran and backed by the institution, has been granted the design patent by the office of The Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks.

The achievement adds yet another feather in the cap of the institution which, with its 900-plus filed patents, ranks 5th, in the top 10 Indian applicants for filing patents from Academic Institutions and universities including IITs and NITs published in the Intellectual Property India Annual Report.

CGC students Ankit Singh and Saeed Bhatia, Department of Mechanical Engineering are the brains behind this surveillance drone. They were mentored by their teachers at CGC Landran.

Fitted with ultrasonic sensors, night vision cameras and related indigenous technology, the drone seeks to assist in surveillance operations even in the remotest of areas.It is worth mentioning that Ankit Singh was also recognised by the Ministry of Defence in the year 2018 for this unique drone technology innovation as part of the Make in India initiative.

Congratulating the students and faculty involved in developing this project, Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran said that this accomplishment highlights CGC’s concerted efforts at promoting the culture of entrepreneurship, innovation and research among its students. It strengthens our resolve to provide the best platform for our young innovators to invent and contribute towards the nation’s progress, they added further.
