Harbhajan Singh ETO inaugurates road upgradation projects in Jandiala Guru constituency

Accelerating the pace of development works in the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency, Punjab’s Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of the road connecting village Chhapa Ram Singh to Killa Jeevan Singh. The renovation of this 1.75-kilometre-long road will cost ₹1.36 crore.

After this, he also laid the foundation stone for the upgradation of the 3.5-kilometre-long road connecting village Dashmesh Nagar to Rasulpur Kalan in Jandiala Guru constituency, on which the Punjab Government will spend ₹2.84 crore. Speaking on the occasion, Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO said that the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency would be developed as a leading constituency of the state, and there would be no shortage of funds for development works. 

He said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has increased the budget for the construction, renovation and maintenance of roads, bridges and public buildings across the state to ₹5,440 crore, which is double compared to the budget estimates for the financial year 2025-26.

He further informed that an initial expenditure of ₹1,500 crore has been proposed for the upgradation of 2,570 kilometres of plan roads across the state and to improve connectivity during the financial year 2026-27, which will further strengthen the intra-district and inter-district road network. In addition, ₹130 crore has been earmarked for completing 31 ongoing bridges and for the construction of new bridges.

Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO also stated that under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-999), around 500 kilometres of rural roads are expected to be completed during the financial year 2025-26 at an estimated cost of ₹290 crore. He further added that in the financial year 2026-27, it is proposed to upgrade 400 kilometres of roads under this scheme at an estimated cost of ₹400 crore. 

Along with this, under the Central Road and Infrastructure Fund, a budget of ₹300 crore has been proposed for the upgradation of 100 kilometres of roads and the construction of six railway underbridges/overbridges, which will strengthen road connectivity and safety across the state.

He said that due to the efforts of the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government, a world-class road network will be developed across Punjab.
