OSD Sukhveer Singh reviews canal water supply works

OSD to the Chief Minister, Sukhveer Singh, today convened a marathon meeting with officials of the Tubewell Corporation, Canal Department, Irrigation Department, Soil Conservation Department and residents of various villages to review the arrangements for ensuring canal water supply to the agricultural fields in the Dhuri constituency.

Addressing the meeting, OSD Sukhveer Singh said that the Punjab Government is fully committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and ensuring the timely availability of canal water to their fields. He informed that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is personally monitoring the progress of the ongoing works and regularly seeking reports to ensure that farmers do not face any inconvenience.

He directed the officials of the concerned departments to work in close coordination and expedite the ongoing works so that canal water reaches the remaining fields at the earliest. He further said that wherever strengthening of the canal irrigation system is required through installation of pipelines, outlets or construction of branches, such works should be completed on a priority basis.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding issues related to supplying canal water to the fields of villages including Natt, Bhujowali, Ghnaur Kalan, Bhoomsi, Sultanpur, Benra, Bararwal, Buggra, Mullowal, Alal, Punnawal, Saro, Bhullarheri, Bhadi Mansa, Bamal, Balian, Manwala, Rajomajra and Pedhni. The progress of works related to Mogia and its branches, pipelines and outlets was also reviewed.

On this occasion, Chief Minister’s Field Officers Arvind Kumar and Raman Deep Singh, along with officials of the Tubewell Corporation, Canal Department, Irrigation Department and Soil Conservation Department, were also present.
