Haryana to Boost Sugarcane Production with Higher Subsidy for Farmers: Shyam Singh Rana
Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana, said that farmers in the state are encouraged to plant single-bud sugarcane seed in order to increase sugarcane production. For this purpose, farmers are also provided a subsidy. The Minister was replying to a question raised by a member during the ongoing Budget Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today.
He said that to increase sugarcane productivity, farmers are given a subsidy of Rs. 3,000 per acre for adopting the method of planting single-bud sugarcane. In the Budget for the financial year 2026–27, the government has proposed to increase this incentive from Rs. 3,000 to Rs. 5,000 per acre.
The Agriculture Minister further said that farmers are provided healthy and disease-free sugarcane seed, for which a subsidy of Rs. 5,000 per acre is given. He added that in the Budget for the financial year 2026–27, the state government has proposed that farmers adopting the tissue culture method for sugarcane cultivation will be provided sugarcane seedlings free of cost.
He also informed that the state government has proposed that cooperative sugar mills will provide sugarcane harvesters to farmers for harvesting their produce, which will help reduce the cost of harvesting sugarcane.
