Approval granted by defence ministry to open Sainik School in Matanhail on PPP Mode: Rao Narbir Singh
Haryana Minister for Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare, Rao Narbir Singh said that the Defence Ministry has granted approval to open a Sainik School in Matanhail village of Jhajjar district on PPP mode. For this purpose, a proposal to transfer 60 acres of land from the Gram Panchayat is required.
Rao Narbir Singh was replying to a question raised by MLA, Smt. Geeta Bhukkal during the Question Hour in the ongoing Budget Session Haryana Vidhan Sabha here today. He said that in 1987, the then Chief Minister, late Devi Lal had announced the opening of a Sainik School in Matanhail.
After that, the demand remained pending till 2024. During this period, former Chief Minister, Sh. Om Prakash Chautala once and former Chief Minister, Sh.Manohar Lal twice wrote to the Defence Minister demanding the opening of the Sainik School.
He informed that at present, Sainik School Kunjpura and Sainik School Rewari are functioning in Haryana. He said that despite being a small state, the youth of Haryana have special enthusiasm and passion to join the armed forces.
Keeping this in view, the Defence Ministry has now granted approval to open a Sainik School in Matanhail on PPP mode. Rao Narbir Singh said that provisions for admission in Sainik Schools for the local village are decided according to the rules of the Ministry of Defence.
He also said that the issue raised by the MLA regarding providing employment to local people in Group-D posts will also be considered by the government.
