Interactive Session on Women Empowerment Held at Rayat Bahra University

An interactive session on Women Empowerment was organised by the Alpha School of Rayat Bahra University with the objective of inspiring students to understand the significance of gender equality and the crucial role women play in nation-building.

The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members and served as a meaningful platform to discuss the importance of empowering women through education, leadership, confidence and equal opportunities.

Dr. Pooja Sharma, Director of Alpha School, informed that the event was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. Suman Singh Director Health Services, Chandigarh. She highlighted that such interactive sessions provide students with valuable exposure and inspire them to recognise their responsibilities in promoting equality and respect in society.

Addressing the gathering Prof. (Dr.) Sanjay Kumar, Vice Chancellor of Rayat Bahra University emphasised that empowering women in every sphere of life is essential for building a progressive and inclusive society. He appreciated the achievements and contributions of women across different sectors and stated that education, awareness and equal opportunities are key factors in strengthening the position of women in society.

In her keynote address, Dr. Suman Singh shared her inspiring professional journey and spoke about the importance of determination, self-belief and leadership among women. She encouraged students to pursue their dreams with confidence and dedication and to become responsible citizens who contribute positively to society. She also interacted with students and answered their questions, making the session engaging and insightful.

Meanwhile, the University School of Life Sciences also celebrated International Women’s Day by organising a motivational talk delivered by Avikshit, an ex-Navy officer and submariner. He highlighted the strength, resilience and invaluable role of women in shaping families, communities and the nation.

Prof. (Dr.) Simerjit Kaur, Dean, University School of Life Sciences, stated that the institution is celebrating International Women’s Day 2026 under the theme “Give to Gain,” which emphasises the power of mutual support and collective progress in empowering women.
