Pulse Polio National Immunization Day was observed across District Poonch amid close coordination between district administration and health department to ensure maximum coverage of children in the age group of 0 to 5 years, despite adverse weather conditions.

The campaign was formally inaugurated by the District Development Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma by administering polio drops to children at the Government Primary Health Centre Ajiote, an area close to the Line of Control. The inauguration was held in the presence of Chief Medical Officer  Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan and Block Medical Officer Mandi Dr. Reyaz Jan.

To cover 74,765 children in the 0–5 year age group, 426 booths were established across the district, supported by 854 vaccination teams consisting of 1,704 team members. Special focus was laid on 30 hard-to-reach and high-focus areas, along with 13 transit points identified across the district.

To ensure coverage of migrant populations and travelers, transit vaccination points were set up at strategic locations. In Mendhar, booths were established at BG, Jalal Chowk and Bus Stand Mendhar. Despite inclement weather, a significant turnout of children was witnessed at booths across the district, reflecting strong community participation and awareness regarding the importance of polio immunization.
