Government moving ahead with construction of water storage infrastructure- Ranbir Gangwa
Haryana Public Works (Buildings & Roads) Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa, said that the state government is actively moving forward with plans to create new water storage facilities in Rewari to meet present and future requirements. The Minister was responding to a question raised by Rewari MLA, Sh. Laxman Singh Yadav during the ongoing Winter Session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha.
He informed the House that drinking water supply in Rewari city is currently being managed through two canal-based water works located in Kalaka and Lisana villages. At present, residents of the city are being supplied drinking water at the rate of 135 litres per capita per day (LPCD).
Keeping in view the city’s future demand, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa said that to enhance canal water storage capacity, the department purchased 9 acres 7 kanals and 5 marlas of Panchayat land in village Bhagwanpur in June 2025. An administrative approval amounting to Rs. 2,605.66 lakh was accorded in October 2025 for the construction of an additional canal water storage tank and for upgrading the main storm water pumping station at Nayagaon.
The tender for Package-1 has already been issued, while the process for Package-2 is currently underway. The Minister further added that, considering the need for additional canal water storage, the department has also initiated land acquisition proceedings through the e-Bhoomi portal.
A proposal regarding 45.375 acres of suitable land offered by landowners has been placed before the Director, Land Records in November 2025, for discussion at policy rates by the Committee of Secretaries.
