Devendra Fadnavis Inaugurates Double-Decker Flyover at Pune University Chowk

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated the Savitribai Phule Pune University Chowk Integrated Double-Decker Flyover (Aundh to Shivajinagar) project, marking a major step towards easing traffic congestion in the city.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, MLAs Siddharth Shirole and Hemant Rasne, along with other dignitaries, were present at the ceremony. Following the inauguration, the Chief Minister also inspected ongoing construction work at the site.

The integrated flyover, designed to provide long-term traffic management, connects Aundh with Shivajinagar while also easing movement along Ganeshkhind Road. Officials said the project was conceived as a permanent solution to recurring traffic jams in the area.

One corridor of the flyover the Aundh to Shivajinagar stretch has been opened to traffic, bringing immediate relief to daily commuters. Construction of the Shivajinagar and Aundh-side ramps has been completed, while the remaining rock-side ramps are expected to be finished by the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) by October 2025.

Once fully operational, the double-decker structure is expected to significantly decongest one of Pune’s busiest junctions, providing faster and smoother connectivity for citizens.
