Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal today visited the local Shaheed Bhagat Singh Inter-State Bus Terminal and reviewed the facilities available there for passengers. On this occasion, Dr. Aggarwal also inspected the Akanksha Hut set up under Aspirational Blocks and District Programme at the bus stand and saw the products prepared by the Self-Help Groups.
Encouraging the members of the Self-Help Groups, Dr. Aggarwal motivated them to work with even more dedication. Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to empower women, Dr. Aggarwal said that the administration is always ready to uplift the standard of living of women by connecting them with self-help groups.
The Akanksha Hut, which will continue till August 23, has stalls set up by self-help groups of Shahkot Block displaying various products including pickles, murabbas, chutneys, oils, turmeric, honey, clothes, vegetables grown without chemical fertilizers, pulses, porridge, wheat and other items.
On this occasion, SDM Adampur Vivek Kumar Modi (Additional Charge of Additional Deputy Commissioner Rural Development), SDM Shahkot Shubhi Angra along with officers from different departments were present.
