Anil Vij seeks Probe in Ambala Burfkhana Land Case

Haryana’s Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij has taken a firm stance regarding the Ambala Cantonment burfkhana land case, stating that he is writing to the state government to ask whether, after the Exciser Agreement on February 5, 1977, government employees submitted the appropriate documents in court during related legal proceedings. Several cases are still pending due to incorrect or incomplete information being presented to the courts.

While interacting with media persons today, Energy Minister Anil Vij said that legal cases concerning such lands are still under consideration in court. According to the rules, no new building or structure can be added to land held on lease. If any rules are violated, the lease can be cancelled and the structure demolished.

Sh. Vij stated that he has already written to the government seeking an investigation into the burfkhana land case because, according to the General Land Record (GLR), the land was received from the Cantonment Board and the legal status of the land remains unchanged. As per the GLR, the vacant land is government-owned, and selling such land is a crime.

If any attempt is made to buy or sell such land, a legal case should be registered. He noted that this is not just a case concerning Ambala Cantonment, but about 62 cantonment areas in total. Historically, the British never granted ownership rights over land, only leasehold rights, and land was leased for purposes like ice factories, farming, and other uses.

It is worth mentioning that the land in Ambala Cantonment Sadar area was originally under the control of the Cantonment Board, but on February 5, 1977, it was placed under the jurisdiction of the Ambala Sadar Municipal Council.

Number of sanitation workers in Ambala Municipal Council will be increased- Vij

Meanwhile, regarding cleanliness in Ambala Cantonment, Energy Minister Anil Vij said that several development works have been carried out in the area. He has instructed all his councilors to ensure cleanliness in their respective wards. There is some difficulty due to a shortage of sanitation workers.

To address this, he has asked the Executive Officer (EO) of the Municipal Council to send a letter to the government highlighting the shortage so that approval can be obtained for more workers.
