Amrinder Singh Raja Warring reminds Bhagwant Singh Mann of his duty to protect life, property of people

Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today reminded the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann of his duty and responsibility towards the people of the state. “You are the elected Chief Minister of Punjab with a popular mandate”, he told the Chief Minister, adding, “at the same time you owe it to the same people who elected you to ensure the safety and security of their life and property”.
He said that the Congress did not want to politicize the issue since it concerns the safety and security of the people of Punjab. At the same time, he added, the Congress cannot turn a blind eye towards all such incidents.
Referring to recent spurt in the targeted killings by the gangsters allegedly for ransom, the PCC president expressed deep concern over the state of affairs. He warned that the deteriorating law and order situation will further cripple the economy of the state.
Maintaining that the industry seemed to be losing confidence in Punjab, Warring disclosed that in the year 2022, Punjab industrialists invested Rs 2,950 crores in Uttar Pradesh, while in 2023, they signed MoUs worth Rs 9,000 crore with UP. He noted that only yesterday, the Punjab industry promised investments worth Rs 15,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh.
“This must be a wake up call for all of us in general and you as the Chief Minister in particular”, he told the CM, while adding, “we need to introspect as to why Punjab, once a preferred investment destination for business until the recent past was now seeing flight of industry.
Warring who represents Ludhiana parliamentary constituency disclosed that from his personal and direct interaction with the industrial representatives there was a sense of fear among them due to the increased lawlessness in the state. “Incidents like the brutal daylight murder of Sanjay Verma in Abohar further aggravate the situation”, he noted, while warning that the state is already in the “debt trap” zone thanks to the faulty policies of the AAP government.
