Deputy Commissioner Mohali, Mrs. Komal Mittal, visited Zirakpur and Derabassi today to review the ongoing drainage projects and cleaning operations along the Sukhna Choe particularly on VIP Road in Zirakpur and Barwala Road in Derabassi. She was accompanied by ADC (Urban Development) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and senior officials from the municipal council and administration.

During the inspection, the DC assessed the progress of storm sewer work and expressed concern over delays. She instructed officials to accelerate the pace of the projects and complete them before the onset of the monsoon season, ensuring both quality and efficiency in execution.

She emphasized strict action against illegal constructions in the area and called for an increase in the number of building inspectors in municipal councils to curb violations. “Drainage projects and the cleaning of the Sukhna Choe are crucial, especially with the monsoon approaching.

It is imperative that the city is fully prepared to manage rainwater effectively,” she told the media. At Derabassi, the Deputy Commissioner took serious note of the slow progress on the Barwala Road storm sewer and directed officials to complete it on priority.

She also underlined the importance of regular sanitation, sewer line cleaning, and maintaining hygiene in both Zirakpur and Derabassi.
