Doctors’ Day Celebrated with Enthusiasm at AIMS Mohali

National Doctors’ Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali, to honor the dedication, resilience, and selfless service of doctors. The occasion also commemorated the birth and death anniversary of the legendary physician, educationist, and freedom fighter, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.
The celebrations commenced with a compelling role play by Drs. Yatan, Bharat, Simran, Sukhwansh, and Neetika, vividly portraying the inspiring journey of Dr. B.C. Roy. His remarkable perseverance—especially his acceptance into St. Bartholomew’s Hospital in London after 30 rejections—was brought to life on stage.
The narrative was enriched by Director Principal Dr. Bhavneet Bharti, who shared Dr. Roy’s story of grit, intellect, and compassion, urging young doctors to draw strength from his legacy. A creative “Reel of Their Day” competition saw enthusiastic participation from residents across departments.
The Department of Medicine secured the first prize, followed by Microbiology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology, for their engaging and heartfelt portrayals of life in medicine. The event culminated with the felicitation of young doctors, acknowledging their unwavering dedication to patient care and service.
“Each healer’s journey is unique,” remarked Dr. Bharti. “Today, we don’t just celebrate a profession—we honor the spirit of healing and the values that unite us as a medical fraternity.”The celebration underscored AIMS Mohali’s commitment to nurturing a new generation of compassionate and skilled physicians.
The event was thoughtfully organized by faculty members Dr. Komaldeep, Dr. Kiranpreet, and Dr. Alka, whose efforts ensured a memorable and meaningful observance of Doctors’ Day.
