Yoga Cultivates Self-Restraint and Peace of Mind: Laljit Singh Bhullar

Punjab Transport and Jails Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar emphasized the transformative power of yoga, stating that “Yoga exercises cultivate self-restraint and bring peace of mind to human lives.” Participating in the International Yoga Day celebrations organized at Deep Ayurveda, Mohali, the Cabinet Minister expressed pride in India’s ancient legacy of yoga.
He noted that the global recognition of this practice through the annual observance of International Yoga Day on June 21 reflects its universal relevance and value. Minister Bhullar highlighted the efforts of the Bhagwant Singh Mann-led Punjab Government in promoting yoga throughout the state.
“Free daily yoga training sessions are being conducted to ensure the physical and mental well-being of residents. Even Punjab’s jails are offering regular yoga sessions to help inmates shift from a criminal mindset to a peaceful and constructive way of life,” he said.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to building a ‘Rangla Punjab’, he said that positive lifestyle habits such as early rising, yoga, and physical activity energize the body and foster positive thinking. He also commended Vishnu Sharma, CEO of Deep Ayurveda, for his efforts in promoting yoga and traditional healthcare practices.
“Through collective efforts, we can serve society better and contribute to a healthier and more balanced community,” he added. The event featured a live yoga session led by Yoga Instructor Ms. Hemlata, where Minister Bhullar and other participants practiced yoga asanas and meditation.
The Minister thanked the organisers for conducting a meaningful and impactful session.
