Mukesh Agnihotri chairs review meeting of Jal Shakti Department

Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today here chaired a high-level review meeting of the Jal Shakti Department. The progress of various developmental projects under the department was reviewed in the meeting.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed departmental officials to prioritize and complete all pending works of the department within the fixed time frame. He said that effective management of water resources and ensuring reliable water supply remains a key priority of the present state government.
He instructed the concerned officers to step out of their offices and visit the field to monitor ongoing projects and address public grievances promptly. He asked the officers to submit the detailed reports of ground visits to the senior officers so that necessary action could be taken to redress the concerns and issues.
While reviewing the status of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Deputy Chief Minister said that although Rs. 6300 crore was sanctioned by the Centre out of which only Rs. 5100 crore has been received so far. An amount of Rs. 1200 crore was still pending with the centre government.
He said that the state government would strongly take up the matter of releasing the pending amount with the centre government. During the financial year 2024-25, out of Rs. 920 crore sanctioned, the State has received only Rs. 137 crore and Rs. 783 crore was yet to be disbursed, he said.
Shri Agnihotri also asked the officials to prepare a detailed report regarding the Jal Rakshak who have completed 12 years of service in the department, so that the matter could be brought before the Cabinet. The Deputy Chief Minister stressed on ensuring transparency and efficiency in the implementation of public welfare schemes.
He said that the uninterrupted water supply to citizens was priority of the state government and any form of negligence in this regard would not be tolerated. Chief Engineer Anju Sharma presented a detailed overview of schemes and projects under the department. He also elaborated the current status, budgetary requirements and upcoming goals of the department.
Secretary (JSV) Rakhil Kahlon, Senior Advisor Narender Mohan Saini, Chief Engineers Upender Vaidya, Chief Engineer Anil Mehta, Chief Engineer Deepak Garg, Chief Engineer Rohit Dubey, Chief Engineer and Director (SWSM) Hemant Tanwar, Chief Engineer Mukesh Heera and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
