Anil Vij Directives to Energy Department Officials – Daily Report on Power Cuts Must Be Sent to Energy Minister’s Office

Haryana Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that officers of the Energy Department have been instructed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the people of the state. He directed that a daily report must be sent to the Energy Minister’s office by the concerned Superintending Engineer (SE), explaining the reason for any power cut or outage in their area.
He emphasized that any officer who fails to comply with these directives will face strict disciplinary action, as Anil Vij is known for not sparing negligent officers or employees. He further mentioned that the state of Haryana requires approximately 16,000 megawatts of electricity and arrangements have been made to ensure this level of supply.
Sh. Vij made these remarks while responding to media questions in New Delhi about power supply during the summer season.
Instructions to Additional Chief Secretary – SEs Must Submit Daily Reports on Power Supply
Sh. Vij said that he has issued specific instructions to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Energy Department to ensure that each SE submits a detailed daily report on power supply outages in their jurisdiction — specifying how many hours power was unavailable and the reasons behind it — and that this report must be submitted to the Energy Minister.
We Have Arranged for 16,000 MW of Power – Vij
Sh. Vij assured that there is no shortage of electricity supply in Haryana. He added that the state has its own power generation facilities and has also entered into long-term agreements to ensure stable electricity procurement. He reiterated that Haryana’s maximum power requirement is 16,000 megawatts and the entire supply has already been secured.
Instructions for Augmentation of All Power Transformers – Vij
He further stated that the Energy Department is fully prepared to meet the electricity demands, particularly during summer. He recalled that on the very day he assumed charge as Minister, he instructed the officials of the power corporations to augment all transformers.
This means any transformer operating below demand capacity must be upgraded or replaced immediately.
Officers/Employees Who Trouble the Public Needlessly Will Not Be Spared – Vij
He reaffirmed his strict stance against negligence, stating, “Everyone knows I do not spare officers or employees who harass the public without cause.” He cited a recent example from Ambala, where a Junior Engineer (JE) failed to replace a faulty transformer for 15 days, and Sh. Vij suspended the JE.
Transformer Banks Set Up in All Circles – Vij
Sh. Vij informed that transformer banks have been established in all circles before the onset of summer to prevent any issues related to transformer replacement. He also directed that adequate vehicles and staff should be made available for transformer replacement work.
He made it clear that any negligence by officers or employees in this regard will not be tolerated, stating, “The people of Haryana know that Anil Vij does not spare anyone who fails in their duty.” He said that during a recent meeting in Chandigarh with officials of the Energy Department, clear instructions were given to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all consumers across the state.
