Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer Slams Punjab Govt Over Unaddressed Tragedies, Favors to Delhi Leaders

Youth Akali Dal President Sarabjeet Singh Jhinjer criticized the Punjab government over a series of tragic incidents that occurred in the past month. He stated, “These incidents raise serious concerns about the state government’s sensitivity and accountability.
They not only led to the loss of precious lives but also exposed the administration’s misplaced priorities and weak leadership.” Speaking about the drone attacks in Punjab, Jhinjer said, “Sukhwinder Kaur lost her life in a drone strike launched from Pakistan.
This wasn’t just the death of an individual it raised critical concerns about national security. Unfortunately, the Punjab government neither offered any compensation nor expressed condolences.”
On the emotional sacrifice of firefighter Gagandeep Singh, Jhinjer said, “Working on a meager outsourced salary of ₹10,000, Gagandeep Singh gave his life while trying to save burning crops. Yet, the AAP government didn’t provide his family with any form of support.”
Expressing sorrow over the custodial death of teacher Narinder Singh, Jhinjer remarked, “Narinder Singh was brutally beaten to death by CIA staff of Bathinda Police. Though FIRs were registered against four officers after the family refused to conduct the last rites, no arrests have been made and the family still awaits justice.”
On the martyrdom of Agniveer Aakashdeep Singh, he said with emotion, “Aakashdeep Singh of Faridkot lost his life while on duty in Jammu & Kashmir. Yet, the government has made no announcement of compensation or assistance to his family.”
Discussing the Amritsar spurious liquor tragedy, he added, “Several lives were lost due to the consumption of illicit liquor. While the Chief Minister termed it a ‘murder’ and promised action against the culprits, there have been no visible results so far.”
On the other hand, leaders rejected in Delhi are being rewarded with top posts and job-like compensations in Punjab:
• Reena Gupta, a leader of AAP in Delhi, has been appointed Chairperson of the Punjab Pollution Control Board.
• Deepak Chauhan, PA to MP Sandeep Pathak, has been made Chairman of Punjab Large Scale Industries.
• Shaleen Mitra, a close aide of Atishi, has been appointed OSD to Punjab’s Health Minister with a salary exceeding ₹2 lakh per month.
Jhinjer questioned the government, asking:
• Shouldn’t the martyrs and victims of Punjab be the first to receive compensation and support?
• Why are Delhi’s rejected leaders being given top positions while ignoring the capable people of Punjab?
• What is the reason behind the government prioritizing Delhi leaders over the people of Punjab?
“He criticized the AAP government, saying, ‘Instead of helping the families in pain, this government is adding to their sorrow. How can leaders who are busy with politics and advertisements understand the problems of common people? They’ve completely forgotten the pain of those who voted for them.’”
“Jhinjer directly addressed the Chief Minister, asking, ‘Are you ignoring the pain of Punjab’s people? Is your government’s priority to reward Delhi’s rejected politicians or to support the suffering families of Punjab?’”
He demanded, “All affected families must be immediately provided with compensation and assistance. The appointments of Delhi’s rejected leaders should be reconsidered. The voices of Punjab’s people must be heard, and their pain addressed with sensitivity because this is not just my demand, it is the demand of all Punjab. This is a demand for the rights of Punjab.”
