Day with DC & SSP : Students Experience Administrative Work

Under the initiative “A Day with the DC/SSP”, launched by the Punjab Government led by Hon’ble Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the top-performing students of Classes 10th and 12th from government schools in the district spent a day with Deputy Commissioner Shri Sagar Setia and Senior Superintendent of Police Shri Ajay Gandhi.

The aim was to inspire students by giving them firsthand insight into administrative functioning and guiding them in shaping their future aspirations. The Deputy Commissioner and SSP exposed the students to the workings of administration, discipline, and public service delivery.

DC Shri Sagar Setia shared insights into his journey of becoming a Deputy Commissioner, preparation for civil services, and emphasized that achieving high positions requires hard work, strong determination, and a sense of moral responsibility to serve the public efficiently.

An open interactive session was held between the students and the DC, during which the students shared their experiences and received motivational advice. SSP Shri Ajay Gandhi informed the students about preparing for the UPSC examination, shared his career journey and experiences, and encouraged them to choose their careers based on personal interests rather than external pressure.

He also advised the parents accompanying the students to allow their children to choose their career paths independently. He emphasized that students have the potential to excel in fields where they have a genuine interest. Both officers shared their personal struggles, achievements, and challenges to help the students better understand the depth of administrative and public service roles.

During the visit, the students were taken on a guided tour of the Police Lines, Cyber Cell, Police Control Room, Sanjh Kendra, District Education Office, and the Employment Bureau, Moga, where they were given detailed information about the functioning of each department.
