AAP Ministers and MLAs Lead Awareness Drives Across Hundreds of Villages Every Day

The ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ initiated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab is being actively carried out across the state by its leaders, MLAs, and ministers. Party leaders and workers are visiting hundreds of villages daily, conducting awareness campaigns against drugs, and encouraging people to stay away from drugs.

On Monday, AAP leaders continued their campaign and organized anti-drug programs in hundreds of villages. During these programs, leaders appealed to the people to support the ‘War Against Drugs’ campaign initiated by the AAP government and urged them to make their villages drug-free.

MLAs and ministers administered oaths to the people, pledging to abstain from drugs, boycotting drug traffickers, and not to assist them in any legal process.Thousands of people are voluntarily joining the ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ and supporting the government’s initiative.

During the programs, many panchayats officially declared their villages drug-free. The MLAs and ministers assured these panchayats that the government would honour them and provide financial assistance for the development of their villages.

Punjab VS Speaker Kultar Singh Sandhwan led extensive campaigns in various villages of his constituency, Kotkapura. Cabinet Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO spearheaded the campaign in Jandiala Guru, Kuldeep Dhaliwal in Ajnala, and Minister Laljit Bhullar in different villages of his constituency, Patti.

Apart from this, several other ministers and nearly all MLAs addressed hundreds of ‘Nasha Mukti’ programs in their respective constituencies. While speaking to the media during the campaign, Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO stated that following the Punjab government’s ‘War Against Drugs’ initiative, most drug sellers have fled Punjab, and the few remaining are in hiding out of fear.

“The day is not far when Punjab will be completely drug-free. There is no place for drugs in Punjab anymore,” he said. AAP leaders explained that the objective of the ‘Nasha Mukti Yatra’ is to make all villages and cities in Punjab drug-free.

The government is working on a two-tier strategy for this purpose. On one hand, stringent action is being taken against drug traffickers to break the network chain, and on the other, measures are being implemented to rehabilitate youth trapped in addiction.

This includes providing them with better treatment, job training, and financial assistance for self-employment. Now, even drug-addicted youth are voluntarily approaching drug rehabilitation centers to quit their addiction.

Speaker Kultar Sandhwan said that the Aam Aadmi Party government is the first in Punjab to launch a campaign of this magnitude to eradicate drugs from the roots. The objective of the “Nasha Mukti Yatra” is to reach every village and raise awareness among the public.

Appealing for public support, he said, “The government cannot tackle the drug problem on its own. Public cooperation is vital. I urge everyone to actively participate in this campaign.”
