Haryana has become a powerhouse of sports : Gaurav Gautam

Haryana’s Minister of State for Sports Sh. Gaurav Gautam said the Central and State Governments are committed to the all-round development of players. The players of Haryana are bringing glory to the country and state by winning medals in Olympics, World Championship, Asian and Commonwealth Games.
This is the result of hard work of players and shows that the sports policy made by the Haryana Government is also good. The government is working to hone the sports talent of the players from the school level itself, due to which today Haryana has become a powerhouse of sports.
Sh. Gaurav Gautam was addressing the players as the chief guest after inaugurating the Under-17 National Wrestling Championship being organized from May 25 to 27 at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Stadium in Palwal under the joint aegis of Chandigarh UT Wrestling Association and Wrestling Association of India.
600 wrestlers of the country are participating in this national wrestling competition, which includes 450 boys and 150 girls. The Sports Minister said be it any sports competition at the national level or Olympics, Commonwealth or Asian Games at the international level, Haryana state, which has about two percent of the country’s population, has an important contribution in getting the maximum number of medals for India in all these games.
On this occasion, the Sports Minister presented a mace to Vice President of Indian Wrestling Association and Olympian Bharat Kesari Jaiprakash and felicitated Faridabad resident Mahi Siwach, gold medalist in Asian Boxing Championship held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, silver medalist Payal Jakhar and boxing coach Dr. Rajiv Godara by presenting them shawls.
Earlier, the Sports Minister listened to the monthly programme of Mann Ki Baat of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi with the audience. He said the Prime Minister shares his views on public interest issues with the common people through his Mann Ki Baat programme.
The Sports Minister said wrestling is deeply rooted in the soil of our country. Haryana is called the bastion of wrestling. Today’s competition is not only an arena for your tricks, but it is also a test of your confidence, discipline and hard work.
I have full faith that the players who shine here will bring glory to India in the international competition to be held in Vietnam. The doors of the state government and my house are always open for the youth and sportspersons, he said.
The Sports Minister said organizing a national level wrestling competition in Palwal district is a matter of pride. He said the players will not be allowed to face any kind of problem during the competition. He called upon the youth to make their future in sports and move forward.
The Sports Minister said India of the year 2047 will be a developed country running on the shoulders of the youth. He said youth power will play an important role in realizing the dream of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi of making a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.
