Medal-Winning Athletes from Haryana to Be facilitated for excelling in the 38th National Games

The Haryana Sports Department will organize a state-level felicitation ceremony on May 21 in Rohtak to honor athletes from the state who won gold, silver, and bronze medals in the 38th National Games held in Uttarakhand. Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini will attend the event as the Chief Guest.
Sharing more details, Minister of State for Sports, Sh. Gaurav Gautam, said that athletes from Haryana dominated the National Games. He said that along with winning medals, our athletes have also won the hearts of the nation and the state.
The Sports Minister further shared that in the National Games held in Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14, Haryana athletes secured a total of 153 medals, including 48 gold, 47 silver, and 58 bronze medals. With this achievement, Haryana ranked third in the medal tally.
A total of 689 athletes and approximately 200 sports staff from Haryana participated in the Games. Sh. Gaurav Gautam emphasized that Haryana’s athletes are showcasing their talent globally by winning medals in the Olympics, World Championships, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games.
He added that Haryana’s sports policy has played a crucial role in enabling athletes to reach this level. The Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini has allocated a budget of Rs. 1961.79 crore for the Sports Department for the financial year 2025–26, compared to Rs. 1381.79 crore last year.
The new budget focuses on enhancing sports infrastructure, providing better sports equipment, and implementing an insurance scheme. Special emphasis has also been laid on further honing youth skills, said Sh. Gaurav Gautam.
He further stated that new Centers of Excellence will be opened at Maharshi Dayanand University, Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, Kurukshetra University, and Indira Gandhi University in Rewari. Additionally, two state sports complexes will be operated on a pilot basis under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode for improved management and maintenance.
If the results are positive, more complexes may be brought under the same model, said Sh. Gaurav Gautam. The Minister said the number of sports nurseries in the state will be increased from 1,500 to 2,000 to nurture the talents of the athletes in Haryana.
