Advocate Community to Advocate for Punjab and People’s Issues : Barinder Kumar Goyal

Punjab’s Water Resources Minister, Brinder Kumar Goyal, has appealed to the state’s advocate community to advocate for Punjab and its people’s issues while performing their duties. By doing so, they can make a significant contribution to the state’s overall development and protection of its interests.

Goyal was addressing a felicitation ceremony organized by the Bar Association Sunam, held in gratitude for the Minister’s recent donation of Rs 5 lakh to the association from his discretionary fund.

Goyal stated that Punjab is facing several issues, and the state government is fighting on multiple fronts to resolve them, including battles to protect Punjab’s waters, eradicate drugs, and conserve groundwater by connecting all fields to canal water.

He invited advocates to contribute to resolving these issues by advocating for Punjab’s and its people’s causes on every suitable platform. The Minister emphasized that while Punjab is fighting with the Centre and other states to protect its river and canal waters, the state government is also working to conserve depleting groundwater by providing canal water to more agricultural land, with a budget of Rs 4557 crore allocated for this purpose.

Goyal highlighted efforts to conserve rainwater and canal water, adopting water recharge techniques, and utilizing previously wasted water for agricultural purposes. He clarified that Punjab does not have surplus water to spare for other states.

Notably, Brinder Kumar Goyal had served as President of the Bar Association Sunam for several years since 1983. During the event, he reminisced about old times and assured the association that suitable land would be provided for a bar room and new chambers soon.

On this occasion, Sunam SDM Mr. Pramod Singla, DSP Mr. Harvinder Singh Khaira, Advocate Mr. Gaurav Goyal, President Advocate Karanbir Vashisht, Advocate Rupinder Bhardwaj, Advocate Anil Singla, Advocate Tejpal Bhardwaj, Advocate Krishan Singh Bhutal, Advocate Sampuran Singh Lakhmirwala, Advocate Hardeep Singh Bharur, Advocate Harinder Singh Lali and a large number of others were present with him.
