Manjit Singh Nijjar Honored with Indian Achievers Award in New Delhi

New Delhi : In a prestigious ceremony held at the Habitat Centre in New Delhi, Manjit Singh Nijjar, an influential figure known for his contributions as an NRI, was awarded the esteemed Indian Achievers Award. The event saw the attendance of senior officials from the U.K. Home Office, along with notable dignitaries from India and abroad, recognizing Nijjar’s significant impact and dedication to fostering international collaborations.
Hailing from the small village of Diant Pur in Jalandhar and based in Coventry City, U.K., Nijjar has earned recognition as the NRI of the year in 2015 and was listed among the High Flyer top 50 Global Indians in 2022. His role as the Senior Honorary NRI Coordinator and a member of the High Powered Investment Committee of the Punjab Government has been pivotal in bridging connections between leading universities, multinational companies, and the vibrant NRI diaspora. Through these efforts, Nijjar has significantly contributed to the enhancement of academic and commercial partnerships between India and the global community.
A renowned philanthropist, Nijjar’s work spans multiple organizations, including the Indo British Trade Council U.K. and the British Kabaddi League, where he has facilitated numerous initiatives, events, and summits aimed at promoting socio-economic development in both the U.K. and Punjab, India. His commitment to furthering these causes is unwavering, with a focus on inspiring and motivating other NRIs to contribute towards the development of India.
In accepting the award, Nijjar dedicated it to his late parents, family, friends, and notable figures such as Pritpal Gill, CEO of Seabird Education Group, along with teachers, Punjab Government’s Chief Ministers, Cabinet Ministers, and senior IAS officials. He also extended his gratitude to officials at the British High Commission in Chandigarh and Delhi, and the Indian High Commission in London and Birmingham, for their support of his endeavors in Punjab and the U.K.
Furthermore, Nijjar’s commitment to academic excellence has been evident in his service as Vice President of the Alumni Council at Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar for two terms (2015-2021). His efforts to promote transnational education policy underscore his dedication to enhancing educational opportunities and fostering academic collaborations between India and the international community.
