Competitions mark World Wetland Day-2024 at RBU

Mohali : Department of Life Sciences, Rayat Bahra University, under Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education & Red Ribbon Club observed World Wetland Day-2024 on theme “Wetlands and Human Well-Being” by organising Essay Writing, Photography and Pot Painting competitions on the given theme under the convene-ship of Dr Simerjit Kaur, Dean of Students Welfare.
Dr Parvinder Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Rayat Bahra University, highlighted the significance of the wetlands and motivated the participants to restore the quality of the wetlands being deteriorated by anthropogenic activities. Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra appreciated the efforts put in by the students under Educational Social Responsibility.
Dr Simerjit Kaur highlighted the need for conservation of wetlands and motivated the students to pay attention towards environmental issues. Dr Shayna and Saba Saadat, Department of Life Sciences coordinated the event.

Zoology-2nd sem), Department of Life Sciences, USS, Rayat Bahra University, Mohali; 3rd position- Anantika, (M.Sc. EVS-4th sem), Department of Life Sciences, USS, Rayat Bahra University, Mohali; Consolation prize- Damini (B.Sc. Microbiology-3rd year), PGGCG-42, Chandigarh.
Winners of photography:
1st- Shambhavi (B.Sc. Physics Hons) Panjab University, Chandigarh; 2nd- Atif (Diploma Automobiles-4th sem), Polytechnic, Rayat Bahra University, Mohali; 3rd- Arshdeep Kaur (M.Sc. Mathematics), Department of Mathematics, USS, Rayat Bahra University, Mohali.
Winner of pot painting:
1st- Pratham Jindal and Aniket Guleria (B. Pharmacy-4th sem), USPS, Rayat Bahra University, Chandigarh; 2nd- Jashanpreet Kaur of Diploma CSE, Polytechnic; 3rd- Shazel Chikonde (B.Sc. FST 2nd sem), Department of Life Sciences, USS; Consolation prize- Mehak (B. Sc. Biotechnology-2nd sem), Department of Life Sciences, USS; Sapna Rani of Diploma CSE, Polytechnic.
