Officials along with members of SHGs visit CIPHET Ludhiana

An initiative to Promote the Food Processing Sector in Aspirational District Moga

Moga : Under the esteemed guidance of Kulwant Singh Deputy Commissioner Moga, an awareness visit to ICAR-CIPHET (Central Institute of Post Harvest Engineering and Technology), PAU Ludhiana, was organized. This visit was facilitated by GMDIC Moga and ADC(D) Moga Mrs Anita Darshi led the delegation.
The visit was aimed at bolstering the food processing sector in the aspirational district of Moga, and it witnessed participation from various line departments, including NRLM Self Help Groups, Director RSETI, District Bureau of Employment and Enterprises, Animal Husbandry Department, Horticulture Department, Dairy department, Punjab Skill Development Mission Moga and others.
During the visit, Director CIPHET Dr Nachiket Kotwalwale provided detailed insights into machine innovations related to food processing and post-storage technology which primarily focuses on research, development, and innovations in post-harvest engineering and technology related to the agricultural and food processing sector.
The institute works towards enhancing the efficiency of post-harvest operations, reducing losses, and improving the overall quality of processed food. Dr. Ranjit Singh shared the institute’s achievements and technological expertise, addressing one-to-one queries from the attendees.
ADC(D) Mrs Anita Darshi highlighted the significant role of Self Help Groups in the aspirational district, ensuring them ample funds for their operations. She further urged the organization of training sessions with progressive self-help groups in Moga to enhance their capabilities in the food ventures sector.
To gain practical insights into the field operations of the machines at CIPHET, all attendees were given a comprehensive field visit. This initiative signifies a collaborative effort to drive advancements in the food processing sector and strengthen the foundations of the aspirational district Moga.
