Special Camps to Catch Young Voters Start in SAS Nagar

First Camp registers about 400 students at Amity University, DC exhorts the Young Students to be the messengers of Democracy

S.A.S Nagar : In order to register 18-19 years voters, a vigorous campaign to hold special camps initiated by the District Administration.The first camp was conducted at Amity University, today where about 400 students registered themselves on Voter helpline mobile app and online portal (national Voter service portal) nvsp.in successfully.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain who joined the young students to encourage them for becoming the voters, exhorted them to be the messengers of Democracy by enrolling themselves maximum. Interacting with the students, she apprised them about the democracy and elections as its important part.
She said that the Election Commission of India has now made it easy to be a voter on attaining age of 18. Anyone who is going to attain the benchmark of 18 years can register him/herself as voter as he/she completes 18 on January 1, April 1, July 1, October 1 in a year.
Earlier, there was only January 1 was the eligibility date in a year to get enrolled in voter list. She answered their questions regarding the voting right, EVMs and VVPAT. She also explained them the working of Electronic Voting Machines and VVPAT. She said that the EVMs have no flaw and the VVPAT machines endorses its working by randomly checking and reconciling the slips.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the students to spread the message of exercising their voter rights among the society where they reside or visit to sensitise the maximum people to participate in the coming festival of democracy.
SDM Mohali Chandrajyoti Singh, District SVEEP Nodal Officer Prof. Gurbaksh singh Antal, Registrar of the University Dr Dilip Kumar and Assistant Director (Operations) Sachin Saini. Among the students, Vanshika Maggo and Namit Gulati designated as the Campus Ambassador to keep aware the students of the ECI SVEEP activities.
