DC Reasi Vishesh Mahajan discusses road map to boost Agro-Sector in Reasi District

Reasi : To discuss the road map for enhancing agricultural productivity, a meeting was convened by Deputy Commissioner Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, here today. The primary objective of the meeting was to assess the progress made in the implementation of the Holistic Agriculture Department Program (HADP) across the district by the Agriculture and allied departments in various agro-sectors.
The ultimate aim is to double productivity and surpass the pre-established targets. The meeting, held in the video conference hall of DC office Complex, was attended by officers from different departments, all of whom presented a thorough overview of the progress within their respective fields.
Key departments like Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries were the focal points of the discussion. Each department’s district head provided a detailed insight into the agro schemes, elucidating the advantages they offer while identifying the hurdles that have impeded their smooth establishment.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the physical and financial progress achieved under different farmers welfare schemes including PM KISAN, KCC, PMFME, Crop Insurance, Soil Health Cards and host of other farmer beneficiary schemes.
Addressing the officials on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner instructed to mobilize the extension agency of the department at grassroots level to achieve the goal of enhancing the farmers’ income. He stressed on promotion of entrepreneurship among the farmers with special emphasis on vegetable and lavender cultivation with special focus on Millets and creating market linkages.
Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of beneficiary oriented schemes and other construction works being taken up in different government fruit plant nurseries of district Reasi. He impressed upon the department to bring more and more areas under the modified high density plantation to increase the productivity of different fruit crops so as to increase the socio-economic status of the farming community.
He stressed upon to involve more unemployed youth for startups in the field of fruits and vegetables processing and to establish models of integrated farming units besides formulation of cooperative groups with involvement of local talented youth.
Deputy Commissioner emphasized the urgent need for better execution and implementation of these initiatives within the district. He directed the officers to adhere strictly to their respective work domains and strive to achieve the set targets within the stipulated time frame, ensuring that the benefits of these schemes reach the deserving population.
The DC highlighted the need of working in coordination with other allied departments for effective implementation of farmers welfare schemes. He emphasized on timely achievement of deliverables without any lag. ADDC Jyoti Slathia, Joint Director Planning Sunita Kanchan, Chief Agriculture, Horticulture officer, Chief Animal Husbandry officer and other concerned officers were present in the meeting.
