Star Studded Punjab reds won the first Trident cup T-20 cricket tournament by beating Jalandhar XI in a one sided game at Hara Cricket Academy Ground, Ludhiana by 71 runs. On a sunny morning Jalandhar XI won the toss and invited Punjab red to bat first on a placid track. No Jalandhar baller was able to penetrate.In reply, Jalandhar XI were off to a flying start of 30 runs in 5 overs for the opening wicket between Mandeep jr. (22 of 22 balls) and Azam Nazar. India player Sandeep Sharma dealt the first blow by removing Azam Nazar in an economical spell 2-0-6-1. Jalandhar XI lost wickets after that at regular intervals and could not build a partnership to challenge the score of Punjab Red only Himanshu Satyawan scored 33 runs of 29 balls with 2 fours and 1 six and showed some resistance. No other batsmen was able to make any solid contribution towards their team total of 104 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. For Punjab red left arm spinner Harpreet Brar 4-0-17-2, Right arm leg spinner Mayank Markande 4-0-24-2 bowled well and made their team win the game by 71 runs.Ramandeep Singh of Punjab red was given the man of the match award for his match winning knock of 37 runs of 14 balls. Vinay Cbhaudhary of Amandeep Cricket Club, Amritsar was adjudged as the best bowler of the tournament, Abhishek Sharma of Punjab Redwas declared as the best batsman of the tournament. He was the only centurion of the tournament. Gurkeerat Mann of Punjab red for his all round performance was adjuged as the best all rounder of the tournament.Sh. Bharat Bhushan Ashu , Cabinet minister Punjab was the Chief Guest of the closing ceremony along with Varinder Kumar IAS Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana, Rajinder Gupta ( Chairman TRIDENT group of companies) and gave away the prizes to the winner and runner up team. All office bearers of Punjab Cricket Association were present on the occasion to watch the game. S. Inderjit Singh Bindra, Former president BCCI and former president Punjab cricket association along with his wife were present in the ground too watch the game and cheer the players. huge crowd appx. 700 people were present to watch the game.
