Single Window System in all civic bodies soon : Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar

Local Bodies Minister reviews smart city projects and delimitation of wards

Ludhiana : Punjab Local Bodies Minister Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that a single window system would be introduced in all Municipal Corporations/Councils and Improvement Trusts to facilitate the general public in getting their work with ease.

In a meeting to review the status of the smart city projects and ongoing delimitation of wards in Ludhiana, the Cabinet Minister said that the single window system would eliminate the unnecessary harassment and time wastage of the people in getting their works done in all civic bodies of the Punjab.

He said that the department was in the process of finalizing the complete plan for the single window system and it would be launched soon. He said that the procedure would be simplified for every service through the single window system.

He said that this system would facilitate the residents as they would not have to go from one branch to the other. Works would be done in a time bound manner, he added.

Accompanied by MLAs Gurpreet Bassi Gogi, Madan Lal Bagga, Daljit Singh Grewal, Ashok Parashar, Kulwant Singh Sidhu, Rajinderpal Kaur Chhina, Dr Nijjar emphasized that AAP was a party of the common man and the officials must give foremost priority in dealing their applications or complaints. He asked the officials to become more responsive and ensure that every person, especially the poor, must be heard properly.

He told them to work proactively to give good administration to the people and any kind of laxity on the part of the officials would not be tolerated at any cost.

He also asked them to crackdown corruption by ensuring transparency in its functioning.The Local Bodies Minister also directed the officials to ensure timely completion of 67 projects initiated at the cost of Rs 922.50 crore under Smart City.

He also gave assurance to the MLAs for a detailed probe to check any kind of irregularities while implementation of the smart city projects in Ludhiana. He also asked officials to complete the delimitation process in the next two-weeks.

On the issue of waterlogging in Ludhiana due to rain, the Cabinet Minister asked the MC officials to set up a cell in its building which would work round the clock to deal with such complaints to drain out the rainwater promptly by sending dedicated teams there.
