SBS Nagar (Nawanshahr) : Deputy Commissioner Navjot Pal Singh Randhawa, today, after attending the online meeting held under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary of the State to prevent burning of paddy stubble, advised the farmers of the district not to burn the stubble or crop residue, but to dispose of by using other alternatives.
He said that in the meeting, it was directed that in addition to recovering environmental compensation from the farmers who burn the paddy stubble FIR would also be registered. Similarly making Red entry in land records, renewal of passport and gun/driving license would also be suspended.
Benfits like facilitation of Rs two thousand under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi would also be stopped. Likewise, the benefits of many other government schemes will also be stopped.Apart from this, the process of removing that land owner from the positions like Nambadari or Sarpanchi would also be initiated.
He said that if a farmer sets the paddy straw on fire, then a challan will be created on his entire ownership. The Deputy Commissioner appealed to all the farmers of district that all the farmers should dispose of the stubble through in-situ and ex-situ management by using crop residue disposal machines and refrain from burning the stubble.
He said that by burning stubble/crop residue, we not only pollute the environment , but also become participants in the damage to humanity, animals and plants.
