While delivering his address during the closing ceremony of FAP National Awards, 2022, Union Minister of State for Commerce & Industry Som Parkash “The New Education Policy focuses on academic delivery in local Indian languages.

This will not only enhance the learning level of the students, but will also encourage them to take those subjects, like engineering, medical, architecture, which till now have been only available in english.FAP National awards is a unique platform to recognize talent and excellence in the school education imparted by the private sector.

After independence over the years, the role of government in the field of education started decreasing, while private sector enhanced their presence by providing quality teaching – learning facilities to the students”.

Earlier, community based organizations such as Arya Samaj, Chief Khalsa Diwan, Sanatan Dharam, Missionary Schools were established to increase the accessibility of the school education in India but with the passage of time, philanthropists, industrialists and renowned academicians also established their schools in the private sector to help flourish the gift of education, Minister Som Parkash added.

The Minister added that, “The impact of New Education Policy has already started showing great results in India as the Nation has been able to attract 50000 foreign students to pursue their higher education.

The private sector schools offer large-scale employment to the Indian youth as currently 41 % of the total number of teachers at school level are employed in private sector. The quality of education in India needs to be enhanced to global level so that, the exodus of Indian students to foreign countries in the search of quality education can be stopped”.

While talking about the progress of India at global level, Union Minister said, “The projections given by the global agencies such as World Bank & IMF has categorized India as the fastest growing economy of the world.

Under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has become the preferred destination for global investment. Every year, India breaks its own record in terms of the amount of FDI inflow in the country, while on the other hand, the number of exports from India have touched new height.

Our Prime Minister has given a vision of making India a developed nation by 2047 and today’s youth will witness that India will emerge as the next global super power in the next twenty-five years. The government has intentionally put curbs on imports of certain items, so as to increase the indigenous production by the local manufacturers”.

Talking about the status of economy in Punjab, Union MoS, Som Parkash said “Before 2001, the per capita income of Punjab was amongst the top in the states, which has declined today as the state ranks 16th.

The GDP growth of other states have surpassed than that of Punjab.

The state today has a debt of three lakh crores. Therefore, it is necessary for all political parties to rise above the party lines and introspect about the state of economy in Punjab. We have to work towards making Punjab a progressive state once again”.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chancellor Chandigarh University said, “The awards conferred today will encourage and motivate others to work on the parameters of quality and hence improving the learning experience of the students”.

Dr. Jagjit Singh Dhuri, President FAP said, “Federation of Private Schools and Associations of Punjab is committed to bring reforms in the school education.
