Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Monday directed the private hospitals to not to conduct retest of novel Coronavirus if a patient has undergone Covid treatment for ten days in their premises.Presiding over the meeting of an expert committee for strengthening the management of the Covid patients in private hospitals for the better coordination and outcome of Covid-19 pandemic patients who are undergoing treatment in private hospitals, Thori said that as the per guidelines, once the Covid patient had admitted in the private health institutions and treated for ten days by them then there is no need of retest and patient can be sent for

Jalandhar : Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Monday directed the private hospitals to not to conduct retest of novel Coronavirus if a patient has undergone Covid treatment for ten days in their premises.Presiding over the meeting of an expert committee for strengthening the management of the Covid patients in private hospitals for the better coordination and outcome of Covid-19 pandemic patients who are undergoing treatment in private hospitals, Thori said that as the per guidelines, once the Covid patient had admitted in the private health institutions and treated for ten days by them then there is no need of retest and patient can be sent for home isolation.He said that a few complaints have been made about retesting by private hospitals to the health department. He also asked the doctors in the private hospitals to mention the date of sampling of the patient on their files.He said that the major focus was being laid on saving the precious lives of people from this pandemic for which all of us have to join hands. He also asked the private hospitals to ensure patients do not suffer any kind of problems during their stay.
Ghanshyam Thori said that this committee has been constituted to ensure the daily reporting from each private practitioner, a daily report of the suspected cases of Covid-19 pandemic besides regular reporting of tests referred for Covid-19 with complete contact and address of the patient. He added that this committee would ensure daily report of patients admitted in each private facility with details of mild, moderate and severe cases.The Deputy Commissioner solicited fulsome support of private practitioners for adequate and effective management Covid-19 patients.He said that the situation was totally under control in the district and there was no need for the city residents to get panicky. However, he said that the district administration was fully geared up to meet any sort of contingency.He said that in this combat against the hidden enemy the district administration would leave no stone unturned and every effort would be made to impart quality treatment to them.Prominent among present included Civil Surgeon Dr Gurinder Kaur Chawla, DMC Dr Anu, IMA president Dr Navjot Dahia and others.
