DC Lends Helping Hand To Old Age Lady By Providing Financial Aid Worth Rs. 50000 For Treatment Of Her Octogenarian Husband

Also Directs Red Cross Society To Ensure Better Health Services To Bed Ridden Patient

Jalandhar : Reiterating his commitment to serving weaker sections of the society, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori today handed over financial assistance worth Rs. 50,000 to a distressed old lady for the treatment of her octogenarian husband besides alleviating her financial woes.While handing over a cheque issued from district relief society and district Red Cross society, the DC said that the district administration was committed to serving the weaker sections of the society so as to make them feel that they are an integral part of the society. He said that an old age lady from Guru Ravidass Nagar, Maqsudan had approached the administration for financial assistance so that she could alleviate her financial worries besides taking care of her 85-years old bed-ridden husband.

 

On DC’s directive, Secretary Red Cross also visited the lady at her residence who thereupon reported the financial conditions of her family to the deputy commissioner. Subsequently, the DC issued a cheque of Rs. 50,000 from district relief society and district Red Cross society funds. He also directed the officials of district red cross society to shift the ailing husband to a hospital where best of the medical treatment to be ensured by the doctors. Notably, her husband is a retired principal from the education department but he could not get his financial dues due to the ongoing litigations in the court, thereby putting the family in a financial crunch.

 

Mr. Thori assured the old lady of the further assistance, if required, for the treatment of her husband besides other basic needs. He also said that earlier the administration had also provided financial help worth Rs. 20k to this family and more help would be accorded to bring this family out of thr prevailing crisis.He said that it was the collective responsibility of all of us to assist needy persons whenever they come to our contact so that they get maximum help from the society. The DC also mentioned that earlier too the administration had helped many distressed families by providing monetary as well as medical assistance to them, thereby reconnecting them to the mainstream.
