Chandigarh/New Delhi : Slamming the Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh for discrediting Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was serving and supporting the farmers in the ongoing movement; the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab co-incharge and MLA from Delhi, Raghav Chadha said that Captain Amarinder Singh was doing so at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi led central government. Addressing the media during a press conference with AAP Youth Wing president and MLA Meet Hayer on Thursday; Chadha said that Captain was making false and baseless statements against Kejriwal and was not uttering a single word against those who had made these anti-farmers black laws and not accepting the legitimate demands of the farmers.Chadha said that Captain Amarinder Singh was making personal statements against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. He further asked Captain the reason for purposelessly targeting Kejriwal. “Is it Arvind Kejriwal’s fault that he supported the farmers’ movement as a ‘Sevadaar’ of the farmers? Is it Kejriwal’s fault that he did not allow Delhi stadiums to become jails and not allow farmers to enter? If Captain finds Kejriwal guilty of this act, he will speak out against him and the people of Punjab will answer. The Aam Aadmi Party is and will remain steadfast with the farmers,” said Chadha.
He further questioned Captain Amarinder Singh as to why he agreed to such anti-farmers black laws while being a member of the High Power Committee. “Why didn’t Captain inform the people of Punjab in advance when the legislations were made? Infact the Captain led state government is doing what the Modi government at the centre was saying,” he added. Chadha further said that from the point of view of farmers’ agitation, the Captain government was using every possible means to suppress the farmers’ struggle. He said that the dharna being staged by Congress MLAs and MPs at Jantar Mantar in Delhi was also a part of weakening the farmers’ struggle. The Aam Aadmi Party had never organised any program of its own but was working to make the farmers’ movement a success. Replying to a media query, Raghav Chadha said that the farmers’ movement was only about the farmers and it was wrong to look at it through political lenses. “There is AAP government in Delhi so it is our responsibility to provide facilities to the farmers. The Aam Aadmi Party is playing its role as a ‘servant’ and not as a political party,” he added.MLA Meet Hayer said that the recent statement of Captain Amarinder Singh that he had met the Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue of national security and not on the demands of the farmers proves that he never raised the issue of farmers with the central government. “Captain Amarinder is saying that they are being defamed as they do not have any ED cases. Can he explain as to why his son has been making rounds of the ED office? In fact, the scams perpetrated by him are being investigated by the ED, which is why he is acting as the BJP yes-man even though he is the Congress Chief Minister in Punjab,” he said.
