Empowering Women Farmers in Punjab with Drone Technology under

Ludhiana : HDFC Bank Parivartan, in a pioneering partnership with the Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative (IFFCO), proudly announces the successful completion of an innovative training program under the PRIME MINISTER – MAHILA KISAN DRONE KENDRA (PMDK) scheme. Conducted in Manesar, Haryana, this initiative has been transformative, successfully certifying four dynamic women farmers from Punjab as skilled drone pilots, thus seamlessly integrating modern technology into traditional farming practices.
The programme’s standout participants, Gurinder Kaur of Machiwara Sahib, Rupinder Kaur of Lapran, Mandeep Kaur Pannu of Barundi, and Simranjitt Kaur of Machiwara Sahib, have shown exceptional talent and dedication during the intensive 15-day training period. Their newly acquired skills in operating agricultural drones are set to significantly boost crop yields, enhance agricultural efficiency, and ensure precise urea application.
Deputy Commissioner Surabhi Malik and ADC (General) Gautam Jain today honoured these women farmers in DC office today. In a significant move, the government has committed to providing free drones to 15,000 women-led Self-Help Groups. This initiative demonstrates a strong commitment to empowering women in agriculture and promoting economic independence.
A major highlight of this initiative was the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra, which showcased the latest agricultural drones. Designed with the farmer’s needs in mind, these drones represent a significant step forward in modernizing agricultural practices. This collaboration between HDFC Bank Parivartan and IFFCO marks a significant milestone in the journey towards a sustainable and prosperous future in agriculture.
Also Manpreet Singh Team Leader and Manager of Punjab GT team informed that Grant Thornton Bharat LLP has been awarded work to benefit more than 27000 women (directly and indirectly) by aggregating/evolving all women FPCs/POs from SHGs/JLGs in the Districts of Ludhiana, Moga, Barnala and Rupnagar.
The main objective of the programme is to empower the women and create positive impact on their social and economic conditions by upskilling them and making them eligible for various Govt. schemes, which are available for FPCs/POs. They would also be able to achieve economies of scale in procurement of raw materials and will have better market linkages as an FPC/POs.
